On Jan 31, 1968 during the Vietnamese holiday the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese regular army launched an all out offense catching the South Vietnamese forces off guard as an unofficial cease fire had been declared between the north and south. All Areas of Operation of the 218th MP Co were initially involved including headquarters in Cam Ranh Bay, as well as the detachments at Dalat and Ban Me Thuot. Some members of the 218th MP Co were dispatched to reinforce the 504th MP Bn in Nha Trang where the unit responded to several locations in the city. The 272nd MP Co area came under attack and members of the 218th MP Co responded there as well as at the RVN National Police Station. Photographs on this page are of Nha Trang. As photos of other areas where the 218th MP Co was involved become available they will be added.
